Every country uses its own calculator, the same one you see in the Country breakdown view. This page reads the result of each calculator and puts them on one scale. Nothing is typed in twice, so the comparison always matches the breakdown.
Many costs are published as a range. Low end takes the lowest figure of every range, High end the highest, and Middle sits halfway, rounded. The bar under each country shows the full span from Low end to High end, and the dot marks the estimate you picked.
If you type your own figure in a country breakdown, such as your tuition or rent, the comparison uses it straight away.
Each total covers the first year only, in three phases: admission, the student visa, and arrival and setup. A degree of several years costs more. Every cost sits in one of four groups, and the colours are the same in every view.
The three buttons above the results change what is added up. Total for the first year counts all four groups. Tuition and fees counts tuition plus the costs you never see again. Fees and costs only leaves tuition out too.
Each country has its own tuition levels. The Level of study buttons pick a typical public option, and you can change the level for any country in its row.

Rates come from the open exchange rate service and are dated 11 October 2026. They are mid market rates, so your bank will charge a margin on top. Each country breakdown also shows its second currency line, using the same rates.
The country calculators use their own official reference rates in their notes, for example 4.3789 zloty to the euro for the Polish visa fee and 4.0905 ringgit to the US dollar for Malaysian university fees quoted in dollars. Those are only used to convert fees quoted in euros or dollars.
This is a budgeting tool, not immigration or legal advice. Fees and rules change often, so confirm every figure on the official pages linked in each country guide before you pay anything.
